Subject: Gastrointestinal Illiness Investigation
The Central Michigan District Health Department is working with Central Michigan University officials to investigate a gastrointestinal illness outbreak that occurred after a luncheon held on Friday, May 6 for physical therapy graduates. Family members and faculty were also present. Early reports are that approximately one quarter of the two hundred in attendance have reported illness. Since many family members traveled from around the state we request that all local health departments and healthcare providers report to us any potentially associated GI illnesses. Please call 989-773-5921 extension 1434. We are seeking stool specimens and may request support in obtaining them from cases that reside in your jurisdictions.
