This season, influenza A (H3N2) viruses have been reported most frequently and have been detected in almost all states. In Michigan, a total of 46 positive influenza results have been reported for the 2014-2015 season to date. Of these, 36 are A/H3, 1 is A/H1N1pdm, and 9 are B.
From the influenza viral characterization data collected from October 1 through November 22, the CDC is reporting the detection of drifted influenza A (H3N2) viruses from the current H3N2 vaccine.
