In this Preparedness Lunch and Learn series of virtual trainings every third Tuesday of each month, we will continue to build knowledge for emergency managers. Credits are offered for EMS, NHA, CME, and CNE. Audience: EMS, Healthcare Coalitions, Hospitals, Long-Term Care, Local Emergency Management, Local Health Departments, Tribes, etc. Pediatric Education Hour July 30, 2024 Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ummer Special: Common Pediatric Illness and Injury in the Summer “Pediatric Heat Related Emergencies” (2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) Speaker: Denny Fitzpatrick, B.S. Ed., EMT I/C. Denny will present a half hour lecture on heat related emergencies (Heat cramps, Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke), treatment, and how they affect children. Credit: Pediatric – Medical 0.5 hours “Pediatric ATV Injuries” (2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Speaker: Lisa Hill, DNP, RN, TCRN, EMT-P I/C. Lisa will provide a half hour lecture on pediatric ATV accident injuries, treatment, and ATV safety. Credit: Pediatric – Trauma 0.5 hours Basic Disaster Life Support July 31, 2024 The NDLS course will be virtual and offered on MS Teams July 31, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is a competency-based, awareness-level course that prepares health professionals for the management of injuries and illness caused by disasters and public health emergencies. This will be the last Statewide BDLS course offered before the August 7 Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS) class. BDLS is a pre-requisite to take ADLS. To register please contact Judy Wheeler. Registration will open 30 days prior to the class. Advanced Disaster Life Support August 7th, 2024 ADLS is a practical, hands-on course which follows BDLS and allows participants to demonstrate competencies in mass casualty management. Working through scenarios such as a mass casualty incident, decontamination, entrapment, and emergency operations center. BDLS is a pre-requisite and pre-course work is required. The ADLS course will be offered at 300 Nazareth Rd., Kalamazoo, MI. Courses open up one (1) month prior to the course date. Contact Judy Wheeler for the enrollment code. ICS 300 August 12-14, 2024 EPESoC will be hosting ICS 300 August 12 – August 14, 2024 in Lansing. Dr. Karla Black from Kent County Health Department and Luke Aurner, Region 6 Healthcare Coalition Coordinator will be teaching the course. This is a great course for health care, Healthcare Coalitions, local health departments, tribes, and others to attend. MI-TRAIN Registration Instructions ICS 300 Prerequisites EMS Quality Improvement & Data Summit August 21st & 22nd, 2024 A Register for the 2024 EMS Quality Improvement and Data Summit, which will be held August 21-22, 2024, at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, MI. This conference is designed for EMS professionals looking to increase their knowledge of data reporting and quality improvement practices. Each session will offer content and expertise from local and national experts in the EMS data reporting and QI disciplines. Women in Emergency Services 1st Annual Leadership Conference August 27th, 2024 Join WiES on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, for the Women In Emergency Services Michigan Chapter's first annual leadership conference. Funding for this conference was made possible by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, Medical Reserve Corps – State, Territory and Tribal Nationals, representative organizations for next generation (MRC-STTRONG) Cooperative Agreement.
