On April 20, 2016 Region 7 Healthcare Coalition hosted the annual Regional Full Scale Exercise. During this exercise, hospitals, EMS, Emergency Management, Public Health, and Long Term Care partners found their preparedness levels challenged. In the exercise scenario, straight winds destroyed the Region, Munson Medical Center had to evacuate patients due to infrastructure damages and there was one patient with a special pathogen that needed transport to another facility. To understand their own level of preparedness, Partners had to test their communication using 800 MHz, use of hospital Emergency plans, evacuation plans, evacuation equipment, EM Resource and EM Track, and their use of MICIMS.

On May 19 and 20, 2016 Region 7 Healthcare Coalition hosted Advanced Disaster Life Support training at the Northwest Michigan Fairgrounds. Looking to branch out and accommodate more partners, this was the first time Region 7 has hosted ADLS in Traverse City. The turnout was great! A variety of participants came from within and outside of Region 7. Attendance included, but was not limited to, Physicians & Physician assistants, Registered or licensed practical nurses, Paramedics or EMTs, Firefighters and Public Safety, and Public health professionals.

Being proactive, appropriately planning, equipping, training, and exercising better prepares communities for new and complex types of emergencies and disasters*.
Included among the partners who attended were Dr. Kal Attie- Medical Director, Gary Rapelje- Regional Coordinator, Patricia Crenshaw- Assistant Regional Coordinator, and Amanda Reed- Administrative Assistant. On March 10, 2016, EMS, Fire, Healthcare and other professionals came together for Region 7's Basic Disaster Life Support class being held in Traverse City at Munson Community Health Center: Northwest Medical Control Office. Students learned about responder safety, natural, chemical and biological attacks as well as triage.
On January 12, 2016 Region 7 Healthcare Coalition hosted a FEMA Virtual Tabletop Exercise (VTTX) with the focus on an active shooter scenario in a school setting.
