NRC-RIM was asked to join experts in border and humanitarian health on Oct. 26 at the 2023 Directors of Public Health Preparedness Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The presentation focused on NRC-RIM's work to meet the public health needs of Afghan newcomers.

Medical Countermeasures - Expanding Delivery and Increasing Uptake Through Public-Private Partnerships

October 26 and November 2, 2023 

The National Academies Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Emergencies will host a series of virtual public workshops to examine lessons learned and future opportunities for public-private partnerships to facilitate delivery, monitoring, uptake, and utilization of medical countermeasures to the public during a public health emergency.  

The October 26, 2023 session is “Public-Private Partnerships for Distribution of Medical Countermeasures” and will take place virtually from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. ET. 

The November 2, 2023 session is “Levers and Systems for Public-Private Partnerships to Distribute, Dispense, and Administer Medical Countermeasures” and will take place virtually from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. ET.

Public Health Research and Surveillance Priorities from the East Palestine, Ohio Train Derailment: A Community Virtual Workshop

November 6 and 7, 2023 

The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine is hosting a series of virtual workshops regarding the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment. The sponsors of this workshop are the CDC and the NIH as they explore avenues for research on the short- and long-term physical and mental health impact of this event, and similar disasters in the future, on the community, first responders, and others involved in response.
