Just In Time Disaster Training- Library
The Disaster Resistant Community Group created an online video library for just-in-time training during an emergency response.  The videos found in this library cover disaster related mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery training for a wide variety areas.  Read More>>
2015 NACCHO Network Profile of the MRC
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) 2015 Network Profile of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) has been released and is available online. This report offers a snapshot of the MRC program nationwide. In support of public health and emergency response services, the MRC network covers 91% of the U.S. population. Some MRC unit statistics to note include the following: 
  • 67% are housed within a local health department
  • 93% offer in-person CPR/first aid/automated external defibrillator (AED) training
  • 19% participated in emergency response last year; responding to natural disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, hazardous materials spills, foodborne illness, and others
  • 82% verify medical credentials of their medical volunteers through the ESAR-VHP system (i.e., MI Volunteer Registry)​

Integrating Librarians into Local Disaster Management and Training ​

Brian Bunnett, Chair, Public Services Department, from the Cunningham Memorial Library at Indiana State University spoke about the library's current Disaster Health Information Outreach and Collaboration Project. The Library, in partnership with Vigo County Emergency Management, has been exploring roles for integrating librarians into the planning and response activities of local disaster management groups and developing training sessions using disaster health information resources from the National Library of Medicine.

CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule Resources at Your Fingertips
Attached is the American Hospital Association (AHA) and American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) Regulatory Advisory – Final Emergency Preparedness Rule and ASPR TRACIEAHA/ASHE regulatory advisory on the CMS Emergency Preparedness final rule, which was distributed to AHA members
 
In addition, ASPR TRACIE sent out the initial version of its CMS Emergency Preparedness (EP) Rule Resources at Your Fingertips Document located at: https://asprtracie.hhs.gov/documents/cms-ep-rule-resources-at-your-fingertips.pdf.
 
According to ASPR this resource will continue to be improved and updated as new information and resources become available.
  • By the Halloween time frame, ASPR will have an initial CMS Survey and Certification FAQ sheet.
  • By early December, ASPR will have a requirements cross-walk table being developed by Yale New Haven Hospital
The current  version includes the following resources:

  • 17 provider – supplier types that are affected by the CMS EP rule, with a description of each
