Sign Up for Updates YouTube Trailer Pediatric Champion Office Hours March 26, 2024 The March Pediatric Office Hours will offer two 1- hour sessions, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on March 26, 2024, on maternal emergencies and how to reduce mortalities. Presentations will be by Dr. Melissa Bauer and Dr. Jody Jones. Dr. Melissa Bauer an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Duke University. She is dual board certified in Critical Care and Anesthesiology. Dr. Jody Jones is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She works for the Trinity Health System in the IHA Obstetrics and Gynecology program at Cherry Hill Village in Canton, Michigan. Please join us for these dynamic and informational presentations. Teams Link to Join TEEX MGT. 439: Pediatric Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness Course May 29 and 30, 2024 Corewell Health is sponsoring the MGT-439 Pediatric Disaster Management course offered by Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services (TEEX). The course will be held on May 29 and 30, 2024 at the Michigan State Police, 6th District Headquarters in Walker. Lunch will be provided. Corewell Health will also be offering this program on October 9 and 10 at Corewell Health Troy. Registration information for that class will be released later this spring. This course addresses pediatric emergency planning and medical response considerations, needs identified in a 2010 report by the National Commission on Children and Disasters. Based on the needs assessment, a training gap exists for emergency responders, first receivers, and emergency management personnel reducing their effectiveness in responding to pediatric patients and their unique needs/considerations. The course addresses pediatric emergency planning and medical response considerations through a combination of lectures, small group exercises, and a table-top exercise. View the Presentation Here From the National Pediatric Coalition: Engage-Calm-Distract Engage-Calm-Distract provides foundational material on pediatric distress and information on applying developmentally appropriate strategies and activities for engaging, calming, and distracting children and their caregivers. The resource kit comes in two versions. One for EMS and emergency medical providers and another designed for non-medical providers, educators and caregivers that support children during disasters, emergencies, or individual crises and there is even an app!
