Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Services and Region 7 Healthcare Coalition will be conducting a Youth Mental Health First Aid course on March 29, 2017 from 8 am - 5 pm at the Gaylord University Center. The primary focus of this course is to provide understanding and recognition of the prevalence of various mental health disorders impacting youth, the need for reduced stigma in the community, and how to plan, identify, protect, and treat using resources and skills gained from the course.

____________________________________________________________________________________ The National Infrastructure Protection Plan identified hospitals and healthcare organizations as critical infrastructure. This course brings planning and management stakeholders from the hospital and healthcare sector together with supporting and impacted community leaders to ensure the resiliency of healthcare infrastructure services in the event of a high-consequence event. Participants will examine preparedness processes and activities, sector dependencies and inter-dependencies, and discuss resiliency strategies to ensure the sustainability of these facilities and organizations.1067100

Mark your calendars and don’t miss the 2017 Great Lakes Homeland Security Training Conference and Expo being held at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This year's theme is “Protecting Our Homeland,” and will draw attendees into the pertinent world of terrorism. The threats we face are real, increasing in occurrence, and recognize no boundaries. We must expand our knowledge and unite in our efforts to combat terrorism and protect our homeland. Region 7 will be hosting a Smart Stat SIM Training at Frederic Fire and EMS on January 12, 2017 from 9 am - 1 pm. Participants will be provided with a complimentary lunch and operational training on both the SIM Mannequiun and accompanying software. This training will allow users to train others who may benefit from its use.
