District 1 Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) Course

District 1  will be hosting a Basic Disaster Life Support* course on November 21, 2016. Please share this information as appropriate, noting the target audience and important course format below.
Course Description: This didactic course is designed to develop commonality of approach and language and to improve the care and coordination of response in WMD disaster and public health emergencies. The curriculum includes an overview of the “D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R” paradigm, injuries and responses associated with different types of disasters, an overview of the public health system, and the psychosocial aspects of disasters.

*Important Information about the Course Format: Students must complete multiple on-line modules before the in-person class in order to meet successful course requirements. This includes the assessment, BDLS eBook download, viewing and completion of the PowerPoint presentation and quizzes. During the in-person component hands-on interactive scenario based exercises will be conducted.*

Course Location: 2123 University Park Drive Suite 150 Okemos, MI 48864

Date: The hands on course will be offered on November 21, 2016 at 8:00 AM-12:30 pm check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m and the class will take place from 8:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. A light breakfast will be provided. 

Target Audience: Physicians, Registered Nurses, Hospital Administrators, Security, Safety Officers, EMS Providers, Emergency Management, Firefighters, Hazmat, Law Enforcement, Dispatchers, City Officials, Public Health, and Healthcare Public Information Officers.
